City Connect Detroit

City Connect Detroit identifies as a bridge builder, connecting federal and state government, and national foundation resources, to communities in need. These links create an important pipeline through which resources funnel to programs, helping to strengthen and sustain them. With this in mind, City Connect Detroit also utilizes cutting-edge technology, making it one of the most efficient organizations in the southeastern Michigan non-profit sector.

The C.S. Mott Foundation has funded a Detroit Out-of-School Youth Initiative to enhance and change efforts in helping in-school and out-of-school youth succeed in school and in life. Facilitated by City Connect Detroit and under the auspices of the Detroit Positive Youth Development Collaborative, this two year strategic planning process will convene youth, key stakeholders in out of school issues, and youth development leaders. “Far too many Detroit Children and Youth do not get the support they need for positive development and school success. The Detroit Out-Of-School Youth Initiative will work towards meeting the needs of out-of-school youth along with integrating a positive youth development framework for in-school-youth that recognizes the importance of the continuum of child and youth development and success in school” states Dr. Geneva J Williams President and CEO of City Connect Detroit. The overall goal for the Detroit Out-of-School Youth Initiative is to improve the educational supports and opportunities for out-of-school youth in Detroit, and to prevent youth from dropping out of school.  http://www.cityconnectdetroit.org/
